Hello

Welcome - I’m glad you’re here. This page offers a glimpse into the work I care deeply about: supporting nurses and organizations through education, development, and intentional support across every stage of practice. Nursing is both challenging and deeply human, and my passion is helping teams build the knowledge, confidence, and structures that allow nurses to grow, stay engaged, and thrive.

My Story

Jill McElheny is a seasoned nursing professional who has spent the last 30 years in a variety of roles in nursing practice and academia, with clinical experience in neonatal nursing, primary care pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, and hospice/end-of-life care.

McElheny is passionate about teaching and growing others in the profession of nursing. She has experience in both clinical and didactic nursing education while holding various administrative roles in nursing academia. As the founding dean of a nursing school, McElheny gained valuable experience in strategic planning, establishing initial program accreditation, nursing curriculum mapping, development and revision, and program fundraising. McElheny aims to assist academic nursing programs seeking assistance with program development, CCNE accreditation, curriculum development, or program revision to improve NCLEX scores.

As a nursing retention specialist, McElheny assists clients to develop strategies to engage nursing staff, support nursing management, and to foster the development of new graduate nurses. Always exploring creative sources for funding, she has had the opportunity to write and secure multiple grants for nursing education and retention. Clinical organizations seeking to lower nursing turnover rates, increase engagement of staff, and development of nurse residency programs will benefit from her proven success in these areas.

McElheny holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Colorado, Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from the Medical University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Furman University.  She is board-certified as a nurse practitioner in both pediatrics and emergency medicine, a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), and holds the Nurse Executive, Advanced (NEA-BC) certification. She has served in international medical missions for over 15 years with Samaritan’s Purse International Relief on the medical disaster team and as a transporter for the Children’s Heart Project.
